Illinois Governor recommends wearing masks in public. Do you have an appropriate mask?

Updated: May 20, 2020

Yesterday, Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker said this at the daily press conference on COVID-19:

"The most important thing you can do frankly, is stay home, but when you do go outside or when you must go to the grocery store or pharmacy, wearing something to cover your face based upon what the science say," Pritzker said. "Maybe it’s a homemade fabric mask or maybe it’s a manufactured general medical mask - really just something to cover your nose and mouth out of courtesy to those around you in case you're one of those who are asymptomatic or pre-symptomatic people and who could be spreading the virus.Wearing a mask is just one more way that we can help take care of each other."

As we’re all aware, medical masks are in short supply and should really be reserved for medical staff. Homemade cloth masks are boring and while better than nothing, still pretty ineffective. So, how does one get the ultimate protection for themselves AND practically eliminate any risks to the public from exposure to you? MILITARY SURPLUS NBC (nuclear, biological, chemical) GAS MASKS!!!!!!

A lot of guys (and girls) collected these mil-surp items when they were younger and held on to them. Who would have thought they could be used to “flatten them curve”!?!?!?!? Well, time to go grab some supplies at Walgreens and do what the governor is requesting (wear a mask out in public).

NOTE: this is meant more for humor than actual advice
