BEIJING, Nov. 6 (Xinhua) -- Men are behind most gun violence incidents in the United States, and the toxic masculinity and gun availability are America's most dangerous combination, according to ABC News.
Toxic masculinity, a cultural idea that manhood is defined by violence and aggression to maintain power or strength, is at the root of both domestic violence and mass shootings in the country, ABC News said in a recent report, citing Shannon Watts, founder of Moms Demand Action.
Easy access to guns is one reason that gun violence is a "uniquely American issue," Watts said.
"Every country has racism, xenophobia, hatred. Only America gives those same people" access to guns, Watts said.
Watts' views were shared by Michael Kimmel, a professor of sociology and gender studies at the State University of New York at Stony Brook, according to the ABC News report, which is a part of "Rethinking Gun Violence," an ABC News series examining the level of gun violence in the United States.
The phenomenon of grave gun violence in the United States has to do with "a specific version of American masculinity," Kimmel said.
Kimmel said American men are responsible for such a staggering sum of shootings because of that ideological masculinity, American culture, which he said gives a "constant presentation of enemies," real or imagined, and the most significant contributor is easy access to guns.
Now, ask yourself, what’s China’s goal here in attacking masculinity and guns? They are attacking American culture. Period. If they saw masculinity as a negative, why are they doing this stuff over in China now?
Last week, the Chinese equivalent of TikTok, a short-form video app called Douyin with 490 million users, announced a 40 minutes-a-day restriction for its users under the age of 14. The gaming industry was similarly impacted by a sweeping crackdown on youth video game playing, which became restricted to one hour a day on weekends and public holidays. “Sissy idols” and “effeminate men” are now banned from the media. And more traditional censorship is still going strong, with China refusing to allow Marvel’s blockbuster film “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings” to open in its theaters.
Though bans on effeminate men and cryptocurrency might appear to have little in common, they are both emblematic of the way Xi and his party want to keep China free of foreign and individualistic influences, with these crackdowns furthering his goal of greater control over all aspects of Chinese economy, culture and education. While the displays of power are deeply damaging for the individuals harmed by these moves, the fact that the isolationist measures are becoming more drastic has a silver lining: They’re a sign of how increasingly difficult and elusive such government control is in a globalized economy and social media age.
BEIJING — China's government banned effeminate men on TV and told broadcasters Thursday to promote "revolutionary culture," broadening a campaign to tighten control over business and society and enforce official morality.
President Xi Jinping has called for a "national rejuvenation," with tighter Communist Party control of business, education, culture and religion. Companies and the public are under increasing pressure to align with its vision for a more powerful China and healthier society.
The party has reduced children's access to online games and is trying to discourage what it sees as unhealthy attention to celebrities.
Broadcasters must "resolutely put an end to sissy men and other abnormal esthetics," the TV regulator said, using an insulting slang term for effeminate men — niang pao, or literally, "girlie guns."
China is using gun grabbers like Shannon Watts, founder of Moms Demand Action, as a tool to attack American men, while at the same time working towards making their own men more ”masculine“ by getting rid of possible influences that can create a more feminine male. The Chinese aren’t stupid (same can’t be said about the morons here helping the Chinese via their activism and wokeness). They know that destroying the American masculine male will further lead to decline of American culture and society. Gun grabbers are complicit in helping the CCP’s attempt to destroy our heritage and pride and ruining the American male. They (gun grabbers) are communist assets.
